Arbroath 3-5 Elgin City

In his last game in a Elgin shirt, David Gormley hit a hat-trick to stun Arboath in a macnificent 5-3 win at Gayfield Park. The game did not start good for City with Abroath's player-manager Paul Sheerin scoring on the 29th minute when a cross from Adam Strachan was turned in. The Red Lichties looked to be going up on a high but five minutes to half time David Gormley got his fifth goal of the season with a right foot finish. The Black & Whites took the laed for the first time when Gormley got his second of the game a minute to the break. A couple of minutes into the second half, Gavin Swankie levelled with a left foot volley. Brian Cameron made way for Craig Gunn on 52 minutes & on 54 minutes Gunn gave City the lead with a cross shot going past home keeper Darren Hill. David Gormley rapped up his hat-trick with half an hour to go when Craig Frizzel headed it across for a right foot shot from the on-loan star. Elgin looked to be heading towards a fantastic victory but there was another twist when Swankie played the ball across the face of the goal and Josh Falkingham had a easy task to turn home & make it 4-3 with still 20 minutes to go. The Moray side put the game beyond Arbroath when Jason Crooks turned home a penalty with 11 minutes to go. City were 2 minutes away from the win and brang on young back-up keeper Stuart Black to make his debut.
